Fireplaces

We stock a huge range of fireplaces to suit all interiors & budgets in a range of different materials. Choosing a fireplace can be a bit daunting but we can guide you through the options & designs to get the perfect look for your home. We work with large brands such as Capital Fireplaces, Aurora Fireplaces & GB Mantels to bring you affordable, quality, ready-made fireplaces as well as working with local stone masons, joiners & fabricators for bespoke fireplace designs.

If your project requires a fully bespoke fireplace you can arrange a free design appointment here in our West Bridgford showroom, where we will discuss your requirements & take you through what is possible helping to build the design & practical requirements of your new fireplace.

Fireplaces are generally made in seven main materials; wood, marble, micro marble, stone, granite, slate & cast iron.

Wooden Mantels Wooden Mantels can be solid wood, veneer or painted finished, with Oak & Pine being the most popular solid wood finishes. Solid wood gives a lovely homely feel to any fireplace & offers truly unique character with varying graining & knots. Veneer is a cheaper alternative to solid wood but does not compromise the look, we have both solid wood & veneer fireplaces on display with very few people being able to tell the difference! Painted mantels have grown in popularity recently, with many people going for a mantel painted to match or contrast their wall colour (cool greys are a current favourite). Each wooden mantel we supply is individually made for you, which allows us to have the mantel made to your required size, material & colour. We also offer a colour matching service on our wooden mantels so your new mantel can match existing wooden furniture in your room.

Marble Natural marble can be used in both traditional & modern fireplaces. We offer both ready-made & fully bespoke fireplaces in Natural marble, the most popular being the classic Carrara marble. Each piece of natural marble is unique with varying veining & colour running through. Marble is a fairly tough durable material which is suitable for all types of fires.

Micro Marble Micro Marble is crushed marble set with resins & dyes. Micro marble is a popular choice for people wanting a marble look with a consistent colour. We offer several ranges of ready-made micro marble fireplaces as well as fully bespoke fireplaces. Micro Marble fireplaces tend to be more modern in design & come in white, grey & neutral colours. Micro marble is durable & easy to clean and can be used with gas or electric fires but not with real fires & stoves.

Stone Stone is used in both modern & traditional fireplaces. The most popular stone is limestone, which gives a smooth but matt finish. We offer several ranges of ready-made limestone fireplaces as well as fully bespoke fireplaces. There are two main types of limestone that are used for fireplaces; Portuguese & Aegean. Portuguese limestone is a veined limestone, each fireplace has varying veining & colour tones whereas Aegean is plainer with occasional flecks & fossils. Stone is suitable for all fire types, although not recommended with real fires & stoves as it is porous & can easily mark with ash & debris.

Granite Granite is a popular & durable fireplace material most commonly used for hearths but also used for complete fireplaces. All granite is individually made for us by our Nottinghamshire supplier. Granite can be polished giving a shiny finish or honed giving a more matt appearance. Granite is suitable for all fire types & is a perfect choice for use with an open fire or stove due to its durability.

Slate Like granite, slate is a popular & durable material most commonly used for hearths & mantels. Slate can be smooth in texture or riven, giving a lovely natural finish. All our slate hearths & fireplaces are individually made. Slate is suitable for all fire types & is a popular choice for use with an open fire or stove because it does not mark easily with ash or debris. However, slate is a soft material & can easily be scratched which can make granite the better choice.

Cast Iron Cast iron fireplaces are the perfect choice for a traditional property. Our range of cast iron fireplaces offers Georgian, Victorian & Edwardian styles. Cast iron fireplaces come in the option of matt black, highlight & full polished. Our cast iron fireplaces come with the choice of an open fire, gas fire or decorative only. Cast iron as decorative fireplaces for bedrooms & dining rooms are very popular, as well as for working fireplaces in main reception rooms.
